Of the signed projects, 34 involve investment in Beijing, valued at $5.37 billion, while six involve investment in Hong Kong, totaling about $1.35 billion. Another seven are agreement-based projects worth $752 million.

The projects span technology and business services, biomedicine, finance, artificial intelligence, software and information technology services, commercial aerospace, cultural tourism, and intelligent manufacturing and equipment.

Technology services accounted for 12 projects, followed by business services with seven and biomedicine with six. Chaoyang, Xicheng and Dongcheng districts ranked among the leading areas in both project numbers and contract value.

Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu outlined three priorities: expanding two-way financial opening-up, strengthening innovation and technology cooperation, and leveraging Hong Kong's role as a "super connector" and "super value-adder" to support mainland companies going global.

Beijing Mayor Yin Yong called for closer alignment of development strategies, stronger support for overseas expansion, deeper financial and trade cooperation, and greater opening-up.

Daryl Ng Win-kong, chairman of Hong Kong-based Sino Group, said the company has invested in more than 30 Beijing-based businesses. It recently invested over 130 million yuan ($19.49 million) in AI company Moonshot AI and plans to commit another 100 million yuan to technology and innovation projects over the coming year.

Zhi Tao, chairwoman of Yunji Technology, a Beijing-based AI company listed on the HKEX in 2025, said the company's robots have completed more than 1.3 billion tasks and traveled over 100 million kilometers, serving clients in more than 20 countries and regions. Its overseas revenue surged 638.1% year on year in H1 2026.

Official figures showed that, as of August 2026, Hong Kong's cumulative actual investment in Beijing exceeded $150 billion, accounting for more than 65 % of the city's utilized foreign investment. Beijing's non-financial investment stock in Hong Kong reached $56.32 billion, while 245 Beijing-based companies were listed in Hong Kong.

The symposium comes as China begins its 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30) and as Hong Kong prepares its first five-year plan, creating fresh opportunities to align development strategies and deepen bilateral cooperation.
