Technology cooperation is a key driver. Beijing-based AI company Mininglamp Technology established a presence at Hong Kong Cyberport in 2025 before listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. It is leveraging Hong Kong's international network to connect with global partners and expand its business.

Autonomous driving company WeRide has also joined hands with Hong Kong's Kwoon Chung Bus Holdings and Geely Farizon to develop autonomous vehicles for right-hand-drive markets, with Hong Kong serving as a launchpad for commercialization.

The two cities are also strengthening financial links. The Beijing Stock ExchangeHong Kong Stock Exchange duallisting arrangement, jointly introduced by the Beijing Stock Exchange and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing, supports eligible companies seeking listings in both markets. Sensor manufacturer Audiowell, already listed on the Beijing Stock Exchange, is pursuing a Hong Kong listing under the mechanism.

Two-way investment remains robust. From 2020 to August 2026, Hong Kong's actual investment in Beijing totaled $63.14 billion, accounting for 79.8 percent of the city's utilized foreign capital. Beijing's outstanding non-financial direct investment in Hong Kong reached $56.32 billion by August 2026.

As of September 2026, Chaoyang district alone was home to more than 4,000 Hong Kong-funded companies, with registered capital exceeding $100 billion.

Hong Kong's MTR Corporation operates five Beijing subway lines through its joint venture Beijing MTR, with on-time performance exceeding 99.9 percent last year. It is partnering with Dongcheng district to promote commercial development around subway stations and along subway lines. It also plans to establish a regional headquarters in Beijing to promote investment in the mainland's rail transit sector.

Cooperation is also extending to overseas infrastructure projects. Beijing Urban Construction Group and HKIA Consultancy have joined forces to pursue airport projects in Ethiopia, Indonesia and Kenya, bringing their Beijing-Hong Kong collaboration model to international markets.

By combining Beijing's innovation and industrial strengths with Hong Kong's global connectivity and professional services, the two cities are creating new pathways for investment, technology commercialization and international expansion.
