Beijing's total foreign trade volume (including central government entities) reached CNY 1.53 trillion in the first half of 2025, representing seven percent of the national total. Exports grew 1.4 percent to CNY 301.71 billion.
In terms of exports, Beijing maintained a high level of monthly export performance during the first half of the year. The cumulative export volume in April, May and June successively hit record highs for the same period in history, with first-half exports surpassing the CNY 300 billion mark for the first time. Specifically, Beijing's exports to Australia amounted to CNY 8.32 billion, representing a 5.3 percent increase.
Exports by private enterprises maintained rapid growth. In the first half, Beijing's private enterprises achieved an import and export volume of CNY 210.2 billion, up 5.2 percent, including exports of CNY 74 billion, a 32.4 percent increase.
Regarding regional cooperation, Beijing's import and export volume with Belt and Road partner countries reached CNY 926.5 billion in the first half of the year, increasing by 1.5 percentage points year on year to 60.5 percent. Among them, trade with the five Central Asian countries grew by 5.1 percent.
Data shows that Beijing municipal enterprises became the main force driving regional export growth. In the first half, exports by these companies grew by 12 percent, accounting for 58.6 percent of Beijing's total export value.
Beijing's opening-up platforms delivered outstanding foreign trade performance. Exports of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area reached CNY 31.42 billion in the first half, up 16.9 percent, while that of the Tianzhu Comprehensive Bonded Zone hit CNY 2.36 billion, a 29.7 percent increase.
For emerging industries, vehicles and auto parts exports reached CNY 12.6 billion and CNY 12.02 billion respectively in the first half of the year, growing by 48 percent and 24.5 percent. Flat panel display modules and wind turbine exports totaled CNY 5.9 billion and CNY 1.77 billion respectively, up 35.1 percent and 54 percent. Exports of medical equipment and pharmaceuticals reached CNY 3.73 billion and CNY 2.57 billion respectively, increasing by 4.8 percent and 15.5 percent. Cultural products exports amounted to CNY 3.51 billion, surging by 73.4 percent.
