Recently, the State Council executive meeting reviewed and approved the "Opinions on Strengthening Dynamic Monitoring of Low-Income Populations and Conducting Stratified Social Assistance Work" and the "Action Plan for Developing Elderly Meal Services." On October 25, 2023, the State Council Information Office held a regular briefing on policies where officials from the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Commerce introduced the work related to stratified social assistance and the development of elderly meal services.
Key points from the press conference:
● Rescue measures are implemented for eligible low-income individuals to ensure that there is no widespread poverty relapse and that the basic living needs of those in difficulty are met.
● In ensuring that school-age children complete compulsory education, there are two fundamental lines that cannot be crossed. First, the bottom line of preventing dropouts. Second, the bottom line of providing special care for special groups.
● Through the joint participation of the government, market, society, family, and individuals, a collaborative model of constructing, managing, and sharing elderly meal services is to be established.
