Fengtai District, as the capital's new business district, serves as a key area for integrated development in scientific and technological innovation and financial services, a high-level international multimodal transportation hub, and a model of new-type urbanization guided by cultural heritage and ecological sustainability. Beijing Garden Expo Park
Beijing Garden Expo Park, the site of the International Horticultural Exhibition 2013 Beijing China, is a national 4A-level tourist attraction, blending horticultural artistry, cultural landscapes, ecological leisure, and science education to offer a vibrant urban public space for all.
Beigong National Forest Park
A national 4A-level tourist attraction, Beigong National Forest Park is the largest site in Beijing for viewing autumn foliage. It has long hosted the Beigong Autumn Foliage Festival, attracting a large number of visitors each year.
Qinglonghu Park
Qinglonghu Park is one of Beijing's top-tier parks, featuring scenic mountains, clear waters, lush forests, expansive green lawns, and a vast lake, with a water area of 6,000 mu (about 400 hectares). It is also affectionately called “Beijing's summer seaside retreat.”
Nangong Tourist Scenic Area

Unparalleled Connectivity
As a high-level international multimodal transportation hub in Beijing, Fengtai is connected by major expressways and rail transit lines. Beijing Lize Financial Business District, located in Fengtai District at the heart of the capital, stands as the last major development area near the West Second Ring Road, emerging as a new landmark for growth in the city's southwest. Under the Beijing Urban Master Plan (2016–2035), Lize is designated as a cluster for emerging financial industries and a pilot zone for financial reform in the capital.

Zhenguosi North Street is both an urban thoroughfare and commercial strip running through Caoqiao Village from east to west. Rail Transit
As the core hub for Beijing's rail transit industry, Fengtai has formed an industrial cluster anchored by the Zhongguancun Fengtai Park, positioning itself as a key national base for rail transit development. As of 2023, the district's rail transit industry had exceeded RMB 100 billion in annual revenue for six consecutive years, leading the country's major industrial bases in this field.
Aerospace
As one of the cradles of China's aerospace industry, Fengtai has become a major hub for both institutional and commercial aerospace development. The Donggaodi and Yungang areas serve as core industrial zones, while a commercial aerospace industrial cluster has emerged around Fengtai Park of Zhongguancun Science Park. The district is home to major players in the field, including the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation Missile Institute, and the China Aerospace Propulsion Technology Institute, along with 9 state and municipal key laboratories, over 110 aerospace-related enterprises, and a scientific and technological workforce of approximately 60,000 professionals.
Fengtai's aerospace industry has grown to exceed RMB 100 billion in total output, with the commercial aerospace segment alone contributing more than RMB 28 billion. It has established strong capabilities in rocket manufacturing, satellite applications, aerospace materials, components, and testing, forming a diverse development model centered on the rocket industry and supported by complementary sectors.
Fengtai has also delivered several major breakthroughs in commercial aerospace, including the successful maiden flight of Tianlong-2 — China's first privately developed rocket powered by liquid oxygen and coal-based kerosene, and hosts key projects like the Lize-1 scientific experiment satellite.
Additionally, Fengtai has made remarkable progress in the low-altitude economy, attracting a wide range of research institutes and enterprises specializing in fields such as UAVs, low-altitude defense systems, high-precision navigation, radar, and communications. Its UAV design and manufacturing capabilities are considered world-class. For example, the long-endurance civil fixed-wing UAVs developed by the 11th Research Institute of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation lead the country in fleet size, and its Rainbow series UAVs are also among the top-performing models in China.
Emerging Finance
In 2024, the added value of Fengtai's financial industry grew by 7.2% year-on-year, accounting for 13.4% of the district's GDP — a clear reflection of its key role in the local economy. By year's end, the district hosted 195 large-scale financial enterprises and 65 locally regulated financial institutions. The financial industry continues to expand, forming a high-level, diversified financial cluster with strong core competitiveness.
Notable progress has also been made in emerging financial fields, particularly digital finance and sci-tech finance, piloting innovative applications for the digital RMB, and accelerating the development of a demonstration zone for fintech innovation.
High-End Business Activity
Fengtai's high-end commercial scene is booming, marked by a surge in first-store openings. Since 2024, the district has welcomed 57 brands launching their first outlets in Beijing — more than 70% of them in the dining sector.
The district also boasts a dense concentration of high-end commercial complexes, with 34 large-scale commercial complexes totaling nearly 2 million m2. Among them, the Lize Business District stands out with landmark commercial complexes such as Beijing Lize Sky Mall and Ping An Happiness Center.
Intelligent Manufacturing
To advance the development of its intelligent manufacturing industry, the Fengtai District People's Government has issued the Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Development of the Intelligent Manufacturing Industry in Fengtai District. By 2025, the district aims to have more than 150 large-scale enterprises in this industry, with the output value of high-tech manufacturing expected to double. By 2030, intelligent manufacturing will serve as a core engine driving Fengtai's high-quality economic development.
Digital Economy
Fengtai District is home to three municipal-level benchmark enterprises in the digital economy, including two recognized as global leaders. To further boost growth, the district has established a dedicated task force and launched the Three-Year Action Plan for Innovative Development of the Digital Economy (2021–2023) and the Three-Year Action Plan for Quality Improvement of the Digital Economy (2024–2026), aiming to provide comprehensive, multi-dimensional support to accelerate the digital economy's development.
Intelligent Construction
Fengtai attaches great importance to the development of the intelligent construction industry and has issued the Implementation Opinions of Fengtai District on Supporting the Development of Intelligent Construction Industry Clusters. The goal is clear: by 2035, the district aims to cultivate a group of internationally competitive enterprises in intelligent construction and establish an industrial cluster valued at over RMB 1 trillion.
A growing number of high-quality enterprises have already established their presence in the district, gradually forming a robust value chain that spans both upstream and downstream segments. Among recent achievements, the staff housing project for central government employees at the Beijing Garden Expo Park earned a AAA rating in Beijing's 2023 Evaluation of Intelligent Construction Technology Application in Construction Engineering, recognizing its exemplary use of intelligent construction technologies. At the same time, Yingzao — China's first industrial internet platform providing digital empowerment services for SMEs in the construction industry — has officially launched, offering strong support.
Commercial Cryptography
Fengtai has become a hub for commercial cryptography, bringing together leading companies such as Shudun Technology and SINOINFOSEC. It also hosts key talent development institutions such as the Beijing Institute of Electronic Science and Technology, providing strong human capital support for the industry's growth.
With broad application across sectors including public communications and information services, energy, transportation, water conservancy, finance, public services, and e-government, Fengtai's commercial cryptography industry is playing an important role in ensuring secure digital infrastructure.
Integrated Energy Management
Fengtai is building a strong foundation in integrated energy management, spanning the development and utilization of new energy technologies, as well as the construction and operation of integrated energy projects. The value chain encompasses the full spectrum — from energy supply and transmission to distribution, storage, and consumption.
To further develop the industry, Fengtai has established a work camp for the integrated energy management industry, focusing on attracting enterprises engaged in R&D and the application of photovoltaic, energy storage, new energy, and energy-saving and carbon-reduction technologies. The work camp currently includes four chain leaders and 28 partner organizations.
In the future, Fengtai will further advance key initiatives such as photovoltaic power generation, heat pump deployment, green electricity consumption, energy efficiency and carbon reduction, and the rollout of an ESG evaluation framework. These initiatives are central to the district's green development strategy and are designed to create a business-friendly environment for participants in the field.
New Materials
The new materials industry is a core component of Fengtai's “2+4+6” modern industrial system, alongside its two industrial clusters in rail transit and aerospace — valued at RMB 100 billion. Together, they form a solid foundation for the district's industrial development. It is also actively promoting the development of the new materials industry. Landmark projects such as the Lize North International Finance City, the Beijing Garden Expo Digital Economy Industrial Park, and the Kandan Unicorn Innovation Base are offering vast development potential and robust resource support for the industry.
Smart Healthcare
Fengtai's pharmaceutical and healthcare industry has reached a total output of approximately RMB 42.3 billion, supported by 160 large-scale enterprises and 4 listed companies. The district is home to 8 3A hospitals (including Tiantan Hospital and the Fifth Medical Center of the People's Liberation Army General Hospital) and 15 tertiary hospitals. With more than 500,000 m2 of both medical and industrial space, Fengtai offers strong advantages in resources, innovation, and infrastructure for advancing smart healthcare.
To accelerate industry growth, Fengtai has established the Tiantan Intelligent Medical Engineering Industrial Park, covering fields such as medical robotics and intelligent diagnostics and treatment. Leveraging strategic national scientific and technological forces in the medical field — like Tiantan Hospital and Capital Medical University — and aligning with Beijing's institutional reforms to commercialize medical research outcomes, the park is dedicated to developing high-end, precision, and cutting-edge industries as well as future industries, including innovative drugs, high-end medical devices, and digital precision medicine.
Urban Smart Agriculture
Fengtai has achieved remarkable results in smart agriculture. The Beijing Rice Breeding and Seed Multiplication Base, part of the National Japonica Rice Engineering Technology Research Center, successfully hosted the Forum on Modern Agricultural Development in China, highlighting the high-yield potential of the “Tianlongyou 717” japonica rice variety. The district has also developed the Zhangjiafen Smart Agriculture Park, where all stages of production are digitally and intelligently managed — establishing it as a benchmark for smart agriculture practices.
