Daxing at a Glance

Daxing District, located in southern Beijing, spans 1,036 km2 and is home to approximately 1.82 million permanent residents. In 2024, the district recorded a regional GDP of RMB 133.48 billion. It is positioned as a demonstration zone for coordinated development of the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region, a pioneer zone for science and technology innovation, a new gateway for the capital's international exchange, and a pilot zone for deepened urban-rural development reform. In recent years, the district has pursued a “strong industrial district” strategy, anchored by three core industries: life and health, the airport economy, and future-oriented energy, while advancing the coordinated development of key sectors such as the digital economy, advanced manufacturing, commercial aerospace, and the low-altitude economy — committed to fostering fertile ground for the development of new quality productive forces.

Regional Highlights

Strategic Location

Located at the heart of the “golden triangle” formed by the Xiong’an New Area, Beijing's sub-center, and Tianjin, Daxing District is only 13 km from Tiananmen Square, 35 km from Beijing's sub-center, 55 km from the Xiong'an New Area, and 125 km from the Port of Tianjin. Its prime location — close to the new international airport and adjacent to the sub-center — offers seamless access to the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region and convenient connectivity to global destinations.

Unparalleled Connectivity

Daxing is supported by a highly developed transportation system, including one international airport, three high-speed rail lines, six subway lines, and six expressways. This infrastructure enables a 30-minute transit time to Beijing and the Xiong'an New Area and a 3-hour reach to major cities north of the Yangtze River, offering unparalleled regional mobility. Notably, Beijing Daxing International Airport is the city's only airport with dedicated cargo runways, with a planned area of 68 km2 expected to handle over 170 million passengers and 4 million metric tons of cargo annually. It will be the world's largest comprehensive aviation hub, making Daxing a compelling choice for global businesses aiming to scale internationally.

Ample Room to Grow

As the largest plain new town in Beijing, Daxing offers approximately 3.4 km2 of new industrial land, 187 km2 of industrial innovation zones, and 18.6 km2 of planned industrial land. Furthermore, as Beijing's first pilot zone for collectively owned construction land, it provides an additional 17.6 km2 of land with the same land-use rights as state-owned plots — fully meeting business land needs (excluding commercial housing).

Green and Livable

Daxing combines urban development with a high-quality living environment, offering residents convenient access to nature, with 37 ecological parks and an urban green coverage rate of 46%. The Daxing New Town West Area — currently the only large undeveloped area inside Beijing's 5th Ring Road—will include 220 hectares of parks and green space, offering a per capita green space of up to 22 m2. Daxing also features an internationally friendly living environment and a vibrant talent community, supported by two major consumption centers and six dynamic commercial zones.

Business-Friendly environment

Daxing is committed to fostering a world-class business environment as a key driver of Chinese-style modernization. Upholding the service philosophy of being “invisible when unnecessary, accessible when needed”, and the principle of “government as rule-keeper, enterprises as the main actors”, Daxing has been ranked among the top five business environments in Beijing for three consecutive years and is the city's only designated Enterprise Service Innovation Demonstration Zone.

Industrial System

As a key driver of high-quality development in Beijing plains new towns, Daxing has pursued a “strong industrial district” strategy, anchored by three core industries: life and health, the airport economy, and future-oriented energy, while advancing the coordinated development of key sectors such as the digital economy, advanced manufacturing, commercial aerospace, and the low-altitude economy — committed to fostering fertile ground for the development of new quality productive forces.

Life and Health

Life and health is a pillar industry in Daxing and the first to surpass RMB 100 billion in output. The district holds a distinct edge in pharmaceutical regulation and approvals, serving as the base for 12 national-level institutions, including the National Institutes for Food and Drug Control (NIFDC), the Institute of Materia Medica under the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and the National Institute of Pathogen Biology (IPB). The district also hosts six centers under the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), along with more than 260 national high-tech enterprises and over 120 innovation service platforms.

Airport Economy

The Daxing International Airport Economic Zone is building a “1+2+2” industrial framework: life and health as the lead industry, supported by high-end hub services and aviation support industries, with next-generation information technology and smart equipment as strategic reserves. It is the only zone in China that benefits from the combined policies of both the Beijing and Hebei Pilot Free Trade Zones and a cross-regional comprehensive bonded zone. With these advantages, the area is set to become a world-class aviation city and a showcase of Chinese-style modernization on the global stage.

Energy of the Future: Hydrogen Energy

Daxing is taking the lead in hydrogen energy development with the establishment of the Daxing International Hydrogen Energy Demonstration Zone. Key infrastructure, such as the HyPower hydrogen refueling station and the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region's first hydrogen energy exchange center, are already in operation. The district also hosts the National Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicle Quality Inspection and Testing Center and the Beijing Technical Committee on Hydrogen Energy Quality. Together, they give Daxing full coverage of core technologies across the entire hydrogen value chain — from production and storage to transportation, refueling, and end-use applications.
