The 28th Beijing–Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium opened on November 12 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Senior officials from Beijing and the Hong Kong SAR government attended the event, which gathered more than 800 representatives from government bodies, international business associations, leading enterprises, and business communities of both regions.
The annual symposium has three unique features this year. First is its focus on developing new quality productive forces to further enhance the level of cooperation. Also notable is the large gathering of talent from both regions to discuss development opportunities and strengthen global connectivity. The last feature is the achievement of substantial results, injecting long-term momentum into sustained collaboration.
During the two-day symposium, 29 key projects were signed across 11 sectors, including scientific and business services, finance, artificial intelligence, biomedicine, culture and tourism, among others, with a total contract value of 7.7745 billion yuan ($1.08 billion). In addition, several cooperation agreements and intentions were reached in multiple fields.
Having been successfully held for 28 consecutive years, the symposium upholds the principle of ''complementary advantages and shared prosperity,'' as well as the spirit of innovation and progress. As integral components of the national development strategy, Beijing and Hong Kong have leveraged this platform to strengthen exchanges and cooperation across various sectors, attract international high-end resources, and promote the economic and social prosperity of both regions.
