Free 30-Day Storage for Security-Restricted Items at Beijing Capital International Airport

2025-07-25 17:07

Wondering what you can do if you happen  to carry items prohibited or restricted on flights, and only learn about  the relevant regulations after arriving at an airport? The Beijing  Capital International Airport ("Capital Airport" for short) provides  both domestic and international departing passengers with a temporary  storage service for security-restricted items.

During  the security screenings at the Capital Airport, if passengers are  identified carrying items that are not permitted on board but wish to  retain them, such as valuable lighters, alcohol, non-controlled cutting  tools, and cosmetics and household chemical products with container  volumes exceeding 100 milliliters, they can store these items at the  airport for a limited period. Generally, these items can be stored for  up to 30 days. For a list of such items, check the "Self-Service  Security Check" section of the Capital Airport's mini-program or consult  the security staff on-site.

On  June 28, the Civil Aviation Administration of China issued new  regulations on power banks on flights, prohibiting passengers from  carrying those without 3C certification markings, with unclear 3C  markings, or of recalled models/batches. For these power banks,  passengers can choose to mail them themselves at express delivery  counters before security checks or store them temporarily at passenger  service centers. It should be noted that the temporary storage period  for a power bank is seven days. The Capital Airport has two passenger  service centers, one on the west side of the first floor of the parking  building for Terminal 3, and the other on the basement level of Terminal  2.

In  addition to these temporary storage services, the passenger service  centers also provide lost-and-found services for travelers. If you have  lost items at the Capital Airport, you may call the service hotline at  +86-96158 or 96158 and select the "Lost and Found" option, or go to the  Passenger Service Center of Terminal 2 or 3.
