To boost trade unions' democratic management, safeguard the rights and interests of employees, and better serve workers, the Beijing Federation of Trade Unions of Foreign-funded Enterprises on June 5, 2021 invited Associate Professor Fan Lina of Beijing Federation of Trade Unions Cadre College to give a special-topic training in "democratic corporate management and the workers' congress system." About 200 people, including the chairmen and full-time directors from the trade unions affiliated to its member enterprises, received the training.
Professor Fan's comprehensively focused on the standardization of the democratic corporate management system and illustrated her point with a large number of management cases. It was a comprehensive, systematic introduction to the basics of democratic corporate management and the workers' congress, an easy-to-understand explanation of the theoretical framework and know-how of democratic corporate management, and an elaboration on the function and power, operation procedures and rights and obligations of the workers' congress. The practical and effective training provided a useful frame of reference for trade unions in enterprises to further improve the workers' congress system and enhance democratic corporate management.
After the training, the trainees unanimously stated that involvement in democratic corporate management was one of the duties of trade unions as representatives and defenders of workers' rights and interests. The training opened up a good opportunity to explore new forms, new pathways and new measures for trade unions to get involved in democratic corporate management in the new era. A better democratic corporate management system must be based on the standardization of the workers' congress, and better protection of rights and interests must be based on an improved democratic corporate management system. Trade unions should perform their due functions and excel in their work to safeguard the rights of employees.
