On the afternoon of November 6, the Party Committee of the Beijing Investment Promotion Bureau held a symposium on “Talking About the Story of Reform and Opening Up”. The meeting invited three retired veteran cadres from the bureau. They talked about the story of capital investment promotion in the process of reform and opening up to more than 20 young cadres.  

Jia Kecheng, former director of the Project Promotion Department, introduced the struggle process of all Party members and cadres from the Foreign Investment Service Center to the Investment Promotion Bureau over the past 20 years. He spoke of how they emancipated the minds, worked together, and relied on the government and enterprises to give play to the role of link between the market and the government, and how they did a good job in consulting services, activities and projects. Shen Hui, a nearly 70-year-old former researcher who still serves as a party construction instructor in foreign enterprises, recalls with deep emotion that since the 1990s, under the circumstances of not being recognized by foreign-invested parties, members of foreign enterprises dare not reveal their party membership identity, and were not able to find foreign party organizations. By visiting, research and issuing open letters, the party organizations of foreign-funded enterprises have been promoted from none to countable and realized their personal experience to “full coverage”. The former chairman of the Beijing Federation of Foreign-funded Enterprises, Gong Jun, made a speech on the vivid story of promoting the continuous development and growth of foreign-funded trade unions for more than 20 years with the theme of “Never forget the initial heart and keep moving forward”.  

The young comrades at the meeting were impressed by the veteran cadres who were brave in pioneering and innovating for the capital investment to promote the lofty cause. Everyone expressed their willingness to follow the example of the veteran cadres, inherit the glorious tradition, carry forward the fine style of work, actively participate in the capital investment promotion work of the new era, and strive to play a greater role in their positions.  

The relevant staffs in charge of the party committee of the bureau also discussed the experience and made a request of inheriting the spirit of courage, hard work and innovation developed in the process of reform and opening up, and continue to learn and make efforts, and make growth and progress together with the Beijing Investment Promotion Bureau.
