On October 25th, director Zhou Xu of our Bureau met with Zhang Zhigang, president of One Country Two Systems Research Institute of Hong Kong. Both sides held a discussion on strengthening the industrial cooperation between Beijing and Hong Kong and promoting cooperation and development between the two areas. Director Zhou Xu and President Zhang Zhigang signed a strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of both institutions. At present, the two sides have carried out a strategic study on the development of Beijing's science and technology innovation industry by taking advantage of Hong Kong's advantages on “going out” to “the Belt and Road Initiative”. The next step will connect Beijing's science and technology resources with Hong Kong's financial and professional services advantages, and carrying out in-depth cooperations to learn from Hong Kong's experience in order to improve the quality of life services in Beijing, providing intellectual support for Beijing’s industrial development.
One Country Two Systems Research Institute of Hong Kong is the first think tank established in Hong Kong in 1990. It is a private institution specializing in Hong Kong's public policy. In the early days of its establishment, it conducted a series of studies on the implementation of the Hong Kong Basic Law and provided policy advice. After the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the institute continues to serve as a public policy think tank besides the government, focusing on major social and economic issues within Hong Kong and strengthening major economic partnerships between Hong Kong and the Mainland.
