10th Anniversary of Coordinated Development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region: Shougang Park's Ten-Year Change Towards Revitalization

2024-03-12 15:00

In February 2014, when  General-Secretary Xi Jinping inspected Beijing and made an important  speech on the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei  region, the only enterprise he mentioned was Shougang. He noted: "The  relocation of Shougang to Caofeidian was a concrete action. We should  continue to do so unswervingly." From the southern foot of Xishan  Mountain to the coast of Bohai Sea, Shougang, which took the lead in  relieving Beijing of functions non-essential to its role as China's  capital, has completed the large-scale relocation of the steel industry  and become a pioneer and one of the vanguard of the coordinated  development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

In  February 2019, Xi visited and inspected Shougang Park, affirming  various aspects of the park and giving important instructions. After the  shutdown, the old steel plant area of Shougang seized the opportunity  of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics to promote the urban renewal of  traditional old industrial areas, boasting a new landmark of the capital  city's revitalization in the new era.

The  year 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the upgrade of the coordinated  development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region into a national  strategy. Shougang Park has been transformed from a factory area and  industrial park to a community and subdistrict, becoming an important  symbol of Beijing's in-depth urban transformation. The following sets of  pictures show the huge changes that have taken place in Shougang Park.
