Recently, the opening ceremony for the completion of the South Moat waterfront walking trail in Xicheng District was held in Jinzhongdu Park. The 8 km walking trail along the South Moat from the Tianning Temple Bridge to the Caihuying Bridge becomes another good place for nearby residents to exercise.

In 2020, Xicheng District issued the "Three-Year Action Plan for Building Sports Facilities Around Residents (2020-2022)", in which there is a goal that 5 km new walking trial will be built every year. Since 2019, Xicheng District Sports Bureau has renovated the banks of the South Moat, and carried out the construction of the waterfront walking trail. This year, 5.43 km walking trail has been newly built. So far, the construction of the 8 km walking trail has been completed.

In the next step, Xicheng District will start the construction of the waterfront walking trail along the North Moat. When it’s completed, a waterfront walking trail system, with a total length of about 20 kilometers, will be built. It includes the walking trail along the North Moat, the walking trail along the Lianhua River, the greenway around the Houhai Lake and Xihai Lake in Shichahai, and the walking trail along the South Moat.
