Xicheng District will hold a cultural relics restoration skills competition in 2021, the reporter learned from Xicheng District Federation of Trade Unions recently. The event aims to build Xicheng District’s "Craftsman of the Capital" brand and carry forward the spirit of model workers and the spirit of the craftsman.

The competition is currently in the phase of preliminary planning. With the them of Beijing Central Axis’ application for World Heritage and the restoration of cultural relics, the competition aims to allow participants to learn the Central Axis culture and know cultural relics repairing, and to find talents and reserve craftsmen of cultural relics repairing.

Meanwhile, Xicheng District Federation of Trade Unions will organize a collection activity. Members of the trade unions can share old objects, old daily necessities, plaques and signboards of time-honored brands, manuscripts about traditional crafts in different times, etc. And those will be displayed in a themed exhibition.
