Beijing's GDP Increases by 13.4% YoY in H1

The People's Government of Beijing Municipality issued its semiannual report on economic development. In the first half of 2021, Beijing's GDP increased by 13.4 percent year on year, the highest growth rate among all cities in China.

According to the unified accounting of gross regional product (GRP), in the first half of 2021, the GRP of Beijing reached CNY 1,922.8 billion by comparable price, representing a YoY growth of 13.4 percent and a drop of 3.7 percent compared with Q1. Compared with the same period of 2019, there was a 4.8 percent increase on average over a period of two years, 0.2 percentage points higher than that of Q1.

In terms of industry, the value added of the primary industry reached CNY 4.04 billion, representing a YoY growth of 1.9 percent and a 10.2 percent decrease on average over a period of two years; the value added of the secondary industry was CNY 329.32 billion, representing a YoY growth of 32.5 percent and a 10.2 percent increase on average over a period of two years; and the value added of the tertiary industry was CNY 1,589.44 billion, representing a YoY growth of 10.1 percent and a 3.3 percent increase on average over a period of two years.
